Character Spotlight: Nebula

Today, we welcome the cybernetic assassin with a massive family grudge — Nebula — To MARVEL SNAP!

Each turn your opponent doesn’t play a card here, +2 Power. (except the turn you play this)

A former Luphomoid assassin and adopted daughter of the Mad Titan Thanos — Nebula found herself perpetually living in the shadow of her sister, Gamora. Their father would pit his warrior daughters against each other, day after day, attempting to make Nebula into Gamora’s equal through excruciatingly painful cybernetic enhancements. Her mistreatment as a child led her to see just about everyone in the galaxy as a threat, and make enemies of anyone who defies her.

Over time, her resentment towards Gamora and Thanos grew into a need to best them both. Thus, Nebula pledged her allegiance to serve Ronan the Accuser, as they held captive the Power Stone that Thanos needed to complete his plan to obtain all six Infinity Stones. Nebula’s will to prove herself to her makeshift family resulted in allying with anyone who could benefit her cause — including the Ravagers, the Guardians of the Galaxy, and the Avengers.

As a highly skilled pirate and mercenary, Nebula’s greatest strengths lie in her military strategy, space warfare, astro-navigation, and leadership and technological capabilities.
Her bio-mechanical improvements have equipped her with incredible physical and technical abilities — including energy projection, illusion resistance, superhuman strength and durability, and the capacity to survive in deep space without a space suit.
Nebula is also equipped with wrist-mounted blasters that produce streams of heat or concussive force.

These dynamic cybernetic enhancements are displayed in MARVEL SNAP through Nebula’s unique effect:

Each turn your opponent doesn’t play a card here, +2 Power. (except the turn you play this)

The more time you allow Nebula to grow, uncontested by enemies, the more powerful her enhancements become.
This makes Nebula a great Turn 1 opening play, which can effectively “force” opponents to fill up a Location that they otherwise would not want to fully commit to. Even in the case that the opposing player plays four cards at the same Location as Nebula over the course of 4 turns, Nebula will still receive +2 Power at least once.
A few noteworthy card combinations to keep in mind include the Guardians — whom Nebula naturally synergizes with, as she encourages opponents to play cards at the Location she occupies — and “Location controlling” cards — such as Professor X and Storm, who enable Nebula to continue growing even after the Location is locked down.

Make sure to keep an eye out for this aggressive assassin as you continue playing MARVEL SNAP!
